For over four decades, the traditional facelift was the primary way to reduce signs of facial aging.  Starting in the early 1960’s and continuing until the 90’s, women and men have undergone extensive facial surgery to look younger and more attractive.  And while the traditional facelift surgery is still in use today, there are several other options that are less invasive but deliver the same or near similar results.

More recent advancements in surgical technique have allowed facial plastic surgeons to restore a youthful appearance to patients without the need for extensive surgical procedures.  One less invasive method is the Simplicity Lift pioneered by Dr. Michael Jasin, a facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, Fl.  This technique provides an excellent lift of the facial skin and underlying tissue to reduce wrinkles and tighten up sagging skin.  Because this procedure requires only 2 small incisions around the ears, the recovery time is dramatically reduced from months for a traditional lift to a week for the Simplicity Lift.

Today, a non-surgical face lift is available in Tampa for women and men who desire the effects of a facelift without any cutting or suturing.  By using a combination of injectable fillers and Botox (or Xeomin), to reduce wrinkles, soften facial folds, raise the corners of the mouth and eyebrows, and restore a more youthful contour to the cheeks and jawline, an effect similar to a facelift can be achieved without any surgery.

According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a non-surgical facelift can be performed using fillers such as Radiesse, Juvederm and/or Restylane to fill in and smooth out the hollows and folds in the face caused by gravity and aging.  Dermal fillers add plumpness to the cheeks while neurotoxins like Botox or Xeomin are used to relax the muscles that create the wrinkles in the first place.  It takes an experienced and skillful surgeon or physician’s assistant to inject these products in such a way that makes the patient looks naturally younger.

The downside with a non-surgical facelift is that it does not last as long as a traditional or Simplicity facelift.  The fillers and Botox will wear off and be reabsorbed by the body over time and require further treatment to keep the original results.  However, a non-surgical facelift allows someone to enjoy the benefits of a facelift even if they do not have the time to recover from a surgical procedure.  A “liquid facelift” can also give a patient a chance to see what a surgical facelift can do for them without the commitment to the entire process.  It can be something of a test drive that gives both the patient and the surgeon a better idea of what areas need the most focus to achieve the desired look so when they have the resources available for surgery they will be well prepared to create the preferred effect.

Most patients can return to work in 1 to 2 days following a non-surgical facelift as opposed to several weeks after a traditional facelift. The results of a non-surgical facelift are subtle, natural looking, and can be modified over time if desired. Adjustments to the results, as well as periodic touch-ups, are possible, without the commitment required for facelift surgery, and you can always choose to have the surgery later down the road.
