There is a new dermal filler on the way called Belotero Balance that will help erase facial wrinkles and repair aging skin.  From the same family as Restylane and Juvederm, Belotero represents the next generation of hyaluronic fillers and it is designed to add subtle volume and plumpness to facial tissue.

Belotero was developed by Merz Aesthetics for the correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds.  This product has been in use in Europe for several years and has been recently approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in the United States.  Belotero is a hyaluronic acid-based gel that is designed to deliver natural looking results with little recovery time.   What makes this product different from the older fillers is that it is a softer gel that will more easily integrate into facial skin to smooth out the creases and lines of the face.  It is unique in the way that it seamlessly integrates with the skin and adapts to facial contours.  Patients treated with Belotero have said that they see immediate results with the reduction of wrinkles but that the results are subtle and more natural compared with other fillers.

Dr. Michael Jasin, a plastic facial surgeon in Tampa, is on the advisory board and has access to this new product prior to distribution in the U.S.  Dr. Jasin stated that “because the flow of the gel is so smooth, it will be a great filler for lip augmentation to fill in lip lines, as well as the tear troughs.”  Both of these areas of the face have thin, sensitive tissue that do not respond as well to some of the older more granular fillers.  Belotero will make working on these areas easier for the doctor and provide more realistic results for the patient.

According to Dr. Jasin, Belotero can also be effective for the nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines (laugh lines) around the mouth.  “It is more versatile than Juvederm or Restylane with equal or improved longevity.”  Administered by a well-qualified plastic surgeon or physician assistant, Belotero can help sculpt the facial tissue and create a more youthful appearance without looking overdone or “plastic.”  The results make the patient look more refreshed and radiant, but the overall look is discreet enough that no one will know that any work was done.

Belotero is safe and no serious adverse events were reported during the study or throughout treatments in Europe.  The only side effects noted were short-term injection site reactions such as swelling, bruising or nodules that were mild to moderate in severity.  Any side effects reported, lasted only hours to a day following the treatment.

Because Dr. Jasin is on the advisory board, the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute will be one of the first providers in the Tampa area to have Belotero available.  If you are interested in learning more about what Belotero can do to help you erase facial wrinkles, call today to set up a consultation.  The Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute will be setting up appointments soon so patients can take advantage of the introductory pricing on this new product.
